Bulgarian farmers have entered their third day of protests, with blockades disrupting key transportation routes across the country. The National Grains Association has stated that the protests will escalate each day until their demands are met, with a temporary halt planned for the upcoming weekend.

There is a chance that the construction of the "Hemus" highway will continue this fall and that another 80 km will be ready by 2025.

This was said on Monday morning on Nova TV by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov.

A 60-year-old man, accommodated in the intensive care unit with COVID-19, jumped from the balcony. Fortunately, he was not injured, the BGNES correspondent in Blagoevgrad reported.

The incident happened at 02.30 tonight. The man, who entered with his wife a few days ago, removed the oxygen mask, left the ward and jumped from the balcony.

Bulgaria withdraws the application for the construction of Struma Motorway section via Kresna Gorge, but does not abandon the project, Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) said on January 15, BNT reported.

Drivers are advised to drive with caution and consistent speed on the Struma highway and the first-class I-1 road in the area of Kresna and Strumyani due to fog with a visibility of up to 5 meters, the Road Infrastructure Agency warned.

Experts from more than 10 countries working in the area of prevention of forest fires on October 10 visited the Southwestern State Enterprise in Blagoevgrad, South Bulgaria. Their goal was to learn more about the work of the teams in managing the big fire in Bulgaria's Kresna Gorge, which broke out two years ago and affected more than 14,000 decares of forests, BNT reported.

The Bulgarian government has promised almost €380 million to fund the construction of a 23.6km section of the Struma motorway, between Kresna and Krupnik in the southwest of the country, reports khl. 

The government has committed itself to providing state budget funds of up to BGN 741 073 600 for the implementation of a road project to Kresna, the press center of the Council of Ministers announced.

The Lyulin motorway will be part of the Struma motorway, while the Kalotina-Sofia road is renamed to Europe Motorway that will include the new beltway north of Sofia city. This is stipulated in a decision by which government reaffirmed the list of national roads and approved the list of national roads with tolls, the government press office said, reports Focus News Agency. 

The eco-action for cleaning the territory of the National Park (Pirin), organized by the association For the Earth, ended today. Over nine days, over 100 volunteers from all over the country, aged nine to 55, took part in it, Denitsa Zaracinova of the Ecological Association told BTA.
