BELGRADE -- About 30 percent of Serbia's territory - some 40,000 locations - is affected by some type of landslides or rockfalls, a symposium on landslides has heard.
Remediation of all those sites would cost around EUR 11 billion, it was said during the gathering in Belgrade on Thursday, Tanjug reported.

Asenovgrad- Smolyan Road Remains Blocked
The road between Asenovgrad and Smolyan still remains closed both ways due to the new landslide in the region. It is expected that the road will be unblocked by the end of the day.
In order for the rocks after the landslide can be cleared faster, excavators will be working on both sides of the road.

Bulgarian Regional Minister Pavlova Barely Escapes a New Landslide
As Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova was going over a regular inspection of the works of clearing away the landslide remnants on the road between Asenovgrad and Smolyan, she almost got hit by faling rocks on Thursday evening, NOVA news reported.
Shortly after 7 pm, Pavlova decided to check the pace of work on site, but barely managed to escape a further incident herself.
