Bulgarian Regional Minister Expects Major Landslides in 2015

Bulgarian Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova said on Saturday that the country could be affected by major landslides in 2015 as these have started to occur on a daily basis.

Pavlova stated that a series of landslides have been unleashed, blocking roads on the whole territory of the country, daily Dnevnik reports.

Heavy machines deployed in eastern Serbia

BELGRADE - Heavy machines and engineering units of the Serbian Armed Forces were deloyed in eastern Serbia on Friday to help repair the damage caused by floods and landslides.

The situation is still very difficult in the village of Grabovac, where the water from the local resoervoir is receding slowly, head of the Interior Ministry crisis sector Predrag Maric has stated.

Governor allows HES construction in spite of court order, alleging ‘natural disaster risks’

A hydroelectric plant (HES) construction in the Black Sea province of Giresun will continue for three more months despite a court order for a stay of execution, after a decision from the governor who alleged that stopping works could increase risks of landslides and avalanches.
