Magnitude 4.6 quake strikes between Crete and Kasos

An undersea earthquake with preliminary magnitude 4.6 occurred Friday in the sea area between Crete and Kasos, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the quake struck at 8.57 a.m. some 49 kilometers northwest of Kasos, at a depth of 27.5 kilometers.

Barrage of quakes rattle Aigio

The town of Aigio in western Greece was jolted by a series of earthquakes on Wednesday.

Four tremors were recorded at 11.06 a.m. 11.21 a.m., 11.40 a.m. and 11.56 a.m., with magnitudes of 3.9, 3, 4.2 and 3.3 respectively.

These were followed by another measuring 3.5 at 1.15 p.m.

Magnitude 4,4 Earthquake Rocked Greece This Night

 

An earthquake of magnitude 4,4 on the Richter scale rocked Greece shortly after midnight, the National Observatory of Athens reported. The epicenter is 17 kilometers north of the city of Agio and 32 kilometers from the city of Patras. The quake occurred about 4 kilometers deep, in mainland Greece near Nafpaktos. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Another Earthquake Rocks Central Croatia, Holes Open in Earth

A new earthquake measuring 3.9  on the Richter scale was recorded 28 minutes after midnight in central Croatia, BTA reported.

According to preliminary data, the epicenter was again in the vicinity of Petrinja and Sisak this time. The quake was felt in the capital Zagreb and part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Croatia Mourns Earthquake Victims Amidst Continuing Aftershocks

A day of mourning has been declared in Croatia for the victims of the devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the country on New Year's Eve. The natural disaster claimed the lives of seven people, dozens likely buried under collapsed buildings, more than 260 aftershocks were recorded.
