Exhibition Commemorating the 500th Anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci is Open in the Louvre

After months of negotiations, the largest exhibition dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, commemorating the 500th anniversary of his death, was opened in the Louvre.

The exhibition will feature drawings, sketches, paintings and other 160 works by the Italian Renaissance artist. Currently, over 220,000 tickets have been sold.

The Mona Lisa Returned to its Usual Place in the Louvre

Visitors will be able to view it through glass with greater transparency.

Almost three months after it was moved, the Mona Lisa painting is back in its usual place in the Louvre. The hall that houses Leonardo da Vinci's renowned work has been renovated after a major overhaul, and in recent months the painting has been housed in the Medici Gallery, in another Louvre wing.

"Mona Lisa" Will Be Relocated Due to Louvre's Repair

The most famous painting in the world, Mona Lisa, will be relocated while the Louvre's salon in which she is exhibited is under repair, France Press Agency reported.

Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece will be transported less than 100 paces away to neighbouring Galerie Médicis on the night of July 16, said museum director Jean-Luc Martinez.
