Louvre blockbuster spotlights Leonardo da Vinci 500 years on
Leonardo da Vinci is the star in a blockbuster retrospective that opened Oct. 24 at the Louvre museum in Paris to mark 500 years since the death of the Renaissance master.

After months of negotiations, the largest exhibition dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, commemorating the 500th anniversary of his death, was opened in the Louvre.
The exhibition will feature drawings, sketches, paintings and other 160 works by the Italian Renaissance artist. Currently, over 220,000 tickets have been sold.

Almost three months after it was moved, the Mona Lisa painting is back in its usual place in the Louvre. The hall that houses Leonardo da Vinci's renowned work has been renovated after a major overhaul, and in recent months the painting has been housed in the Medici Gallery, in another Louvre wing.
"Mona Lisa" Will Be Relocated Due to Louvre's Repair
The most famous painting in the world, Mona Lisa, will be relocated while the Louvre's salon in which she is exhibited is under repair, France Press Agency reported.
Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece will be transported less than 100 paces away to neighbouring Galerie Médicis on the night of July 16, said museum director Jean-Luc Martinez.

The Louvre museum in Paris opens June 17 open bookings for a blockbuster exhibition in October of most of Leonardo da Vinci's paintings to mark the quincentennial of the Renaissance master's death.

Replica of Winged Victory graces Alexandroupoli
A marble copy of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, also called the Nike of Samothrace, the original of which is housed at the Louvre Museum in Paris, went on temporary display on a coastal avenue in the northern port city of Alexandroupoli on Thursday.
