The European Health Emergency Response Authority (HERA) has issued recommendations to pharmaceutical companies to increase production of antibiotics used to treat respiratory infections ahead of winter in an effort to avoid a recurrence of shortages, especially of amoxicillin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.

New cases of lyme disease and marseilles fever are registered in the area. Patients are from the municipalities of Elena and Veliko Tarnovo and were admitted in the period from 5th to 11th August. The Military Medical Academy (VMA) organizes free examinations for Lyme disease. From today, June 19th, the Department of Infectious Diseases will consult adults and children over twelve-years-old, bitten by ticks. Lyme disease cases in the country are now around 100.

Lyme disease is the most common infection in Bulgaria, which is transmitted by a tick bite. 

Once again, there is a boom of tick bites in Sofia. It is important for people to be tested because only about 10% of infected ticks transmit the infection, said Deputy Director of the National Center for Contagious and Parasitic Diseases Professor Iva Hristova.

A large part of the municipalities in the country will launch an extraordinary "Tick" action because of the bitten boom. In Sofia, spraying against ticks is due on Monday, June 10th.

"In case of a tick bite we recommend seeking medical attention, especially when it comes to children or when the tick has entered deep into the human skin. It is important to remove it as quickly as possible. Its entire body must be removed, because any disruption of its integrity poses risks. " This was emphasized to the Bulgarian National Radio by Dr.

Experts warn that there is a significant increase of tick-bites in the whole country compared to the last year.

In Varna, many people have recently suffered tick bites. Within a few days, almost 70 residents sought help after being bitten. According to Bulgarian National Television (BNT), five of them were infected with Lyme disease, which can be dangerous, quoted by SofiaGlobe.
