EU concern over possible shortages in antibiotics
The European Health Emergency Response Authority (HERA) has issued recommendations to pharmaceutical companies to increase production of antibiotics used to treat respiratory infections ahead of winter in an effort to avoid a recurrence of shortages, especially of amoxicillin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.

New Cases of Lyme Disease and Marseilles Fever in Veliko Tarnovo
New cases of lyme disease and marseilles fever are registered in the area. Patients are from the municipalities of Elena and Veliko Tarnovo and were admitted in the period from 5th to 11th August. This was reported by Radio "Focus" - Veliko Tarnovo, referring to the information from the Regional Health Inspectorate. Both are being treated in hospitals.
VMA Will Held Free Lyme Disease Tests
The Military Medical Academy (VMA) organizes free examinations for Lyme disease. From today, June 19th, the Department of Infectious Diseases will consult adults and children over twelve-years-old, bitten by ticks. Lyme disease cases in the country are now around 100.
Lyme disease is the most common infection in Bulgaria, which is transmitted by a tick bite.

A New Boom of Lyme Disease Within a Month
Once again, there is a boom of tick bites in Sofia. It is important for people to be tested because only about 10% of infected ticks transmit the infection, said Deputy Director of the National Center for Contagious and Parasitic Diseases Professor Iva Hristova.
