Turkish Lira falling before elections
The Turkish currency fell for the eighth consecutive day on June 1, down around 0.8 percent against the U.S. dollar to 2.68.
The Turkish Lira has fallen around 5 percent against the dollar since mid-May, amid rising uncertainties ahead of the general election on 7 June and a drop in the value of the euro amid the ongoing Greek crisis.

The euro rose to 2.9 liras, nearly 1 percent in just one day.

Turkish Lira, the champion loser against the dollar
The dollar/Turkish Lira parity went above the 2.68 level at mid-week last week and it has shown a tendency to remain in the 2.75 lira band. The Central Bank had to make a written intervention in this situation and "challenged" that in its April 22 meeting; they would make a decision for deterrence from the dollar.
