Mandatory renewable energy target
EU: 40% Renewable Energy by 2030
The EU Council has agreed on a binding target of 40 percent of energy from renewable sources in the overall energy mix by 2030.
This happened at a meeting of energy ministers from member states in Luxembourg.

Aided by pandemic, Slovenia met two of three climate goals in 2020
Ljubljana – Slovenia met its greenhouse gas emission reduction and energy efficiency targets in 2020 in sectors not covered by the Emissions Trading Scheme, shows the 2022 Climate Mirror report. While stressing the key contribution of measures related to the pandemic, the report notes the country did not meet its renewable energy target.
EU Reveales Target for Green Deal by 2030
The European Union must increase the amount of renewable energy it uses and cut energy consumption by 2030 under proposals the bloc's executive Commission published on Wednesday (14 July) to help meet a more ambitious goal for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Renewable Energy: Council Confirms Deal Reached with the European Parliament
On 27 June 2018, EU ambassadors endorsed the provisional agreement reached by the Bulgarian Presidency on the revision of the renewable energy directive. Negotiators of the Bulgarian Presidency reached a deal with the European Parliament at the fifth trilogue meeting, in the early morning of 14 June. Today's endorsement means that the Council has approved the deal.
EU governments agree renewable energy targets for 2030
European Union environment and energy ministers on Dec. 18 agreed renewable energy targets for 2030 ahead of negotiations next year with the European Parliament, which has called for more ambitious green energy goals.
