Golden Dawn MP beaten up by extreme-left group members

Members of anti-authoritarian groups assaulted George Germenis, an MP of extreme right party Golden Dawn, Saturday in Marousi, in the north of Athens. According to eyewitness accounts, Germenis was physically attacked by a group 30 individuals at a cafeteria at 1.20pm, who started punching and kicking him after using pepper spray against him.

TAIPED to receive OTE's 5 percent stake for utilization

The state's 5 percent stake in OTE telecom is to be transferred from the Finance Ministry to state sell-off fund TAIPED as early as on Friday.

The only matter that remains outstanding is the decision of the ministerial committee for restructuring and privatizations for the transfer of those 24,507,520 shares.

Greek Parliament loses OTE veto right, paving way for sale

Greek lawmakers agreed on Tuesday to remove Parliament's right to veto any change in a shareholders' agreement controlling telecoms group OTE, paving the way for the state's sale of a 5 percent stake worth some 200 million euros.

OTE is 40 percent-owned and managed by Deutsche Telekom, with the state holding a 10 percent stake.

Staff at Greece's OTE telecoms want state stake sale plan scrapped

Workers at Greece's largest telecoms group OTE oppose a government plan to sell a minority stake in the firm, fearing the state will lose control of a strategically important company.

Greece has agreed to a privatization scheme aimed at raising 14 billion euros in proceeds by 2022, including the sale of a stake in OTE.

Forthnet lands EETT contract

Athens-listed telecom Forthnet on Thursday won the tender of the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) to be Greece's universal service provider, for a maximum amount of 4.93 million euros per year payable by the state.

This means that the company is undertaking to supply fixed telephony local network access and voice call services in 100 percent of the country.

Consumer Protection Commission Bans Unfair Practices of Two Bulgarian Telecoms

The Consumer Protection Commission (KZP) prohibited the practices of two Bulgarian telecommunication companies to refuse to their subscribers the option of terminating their contracts.

The practice of one of the telecoms is to refuse the termination of contracts unless the customer submits a request in the same office where the contract was signed.
