One of the events that still maintains its "mystery" about the coup attempt perpetrated by the Fethullahist gang is what Mehmet Dişli, with his major general rank, experienced on the day of July 16, 2016, when he was on duty at the Chief of Staff headquarters. He is also the brother of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy chair Şaban Dişli. 

Suspect of arson attack on Müjdat Gezen Arts Center in Istanbul detained

The suspect of the arson attack on the Müjdat Gezen Arts and Culture Center in Istanbul's Kadıköy district was detained by police at his home on Feb. 22.

Police identified a 39-year-old shuttle bus driver, Mehmet Ali, from video footage of the attack and raided his address in the Sancaktepe district of Istanbul.

Turkey, UAE officials vow to boost economic, trade ties

Senior Turkish and U.A.E. officials pledged to increase economic and trade relations at a high-level meeting in Ankara on Feb. 7.        

The ninth Turkey-U.A.E. Joint Economic Committee brought Sultan bin Saeed al-Mansouri, U.A.E.'s economy minister, to the Turkish capital to meet Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek.

The 47th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take on Jan. 17-20 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, under the theme of "Responsive and Responsible Leadership."

Remembering the 'treason' of Mehmet Akif

Yesterday, Dec. 27, was the anniversary of the loss of a prominent figure in Turkish history: Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the poet who wrote the national anthem. Naturally, many remembered him, especially Islamists and religious conservatives who sympathize with Ersoy for his Islamic credentials. Canadian PM welcomes Turkish film festival in Vancouver

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has hailed the upcoming Vancouver Turkish Film Festival, which will take place between Nov. 25 and 27. 

"I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to everyone attending the third annual Vancouver Turkish Film Festival (VTTF)," Trudeau wrote in his letter sent to Hakan Burcuoğlu, the founder and the director of the festival.
