Cyprus says a joint operation with Mossad has foiled a suspected Iranian plot to kill Israelis

Cyprus has disrupted an alleged Iranian plot to target Israeli businessmen with the arrest of two Iranian asylum-seekers who were in contact with another Iranian associated with the Revolutionary Guard, a Cypriot official has said.

The official told The Associated Press the two Iranian men have been in police custody since November 3 and procedures were underway to deport them.

The National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has apprehended seven specially trained spies believed to be working for the Israeli spy service Mossad, local media has claimed.

Cypriot security forces thwarted an attempted terror attack against Israeli and Jewish targets by a member of Iran's Revolutionary Guard on Sunday, local media said.

According to reports, the attack on Jewish and Israeli targets was averted through the coordinated efforts of Cypriot, US and Israeli intelligence services.
