NBA great Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
Kobe Bryant, one of the NBA's all-time greatest players and an athlete of global renown, was killed at age 41 on Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash near Los Angeles along with his 13-year-old daughter and seven on board, officials said.

Bogdanovic, Jazz outlast Pelicans late: 128-126
Bojan Bogdanovic scored 35 points, and the visiting Utah Jazz won their sixth straight game, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans, 128-126 on Jan. 6.
The Jazz, who won for the 11th time in their last 12 games, held the Pelicans scoreless for the final 1:27. Rudy Gobert, who finished with 19 rebounds, disrupted Brandon Ingram's attempted tying layup with one second left.

NBA: Bucks use 1-2 punch to overpower Spurs
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 32 points and Eric Bledsoe added 21 as the host Milwaukee Bucks continued their record-breaking season with a 127-118 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 4 in the first of back-to-back, home-and-away games between the two teams.
The Bucks and Spurs will also meet on Jan. 6 in San Antonio.

Former NBA commissioner David Stern dies at 77
Former NBA Commissioner David Stern, who retired in 2014 after 30 years, has died, the league announced on Jan. 2.
Stern suffered a brain hemorrhage on Dec. 12 and underwent emergency surgery.
He passed away with his wife, Dianne, and their family at his bedside, the NBA said on its official website.
