Some 30,000 people on organ transplant list: Expert
More than 30,000 people in Turkey are currently on the waiting list for lifesaving organ transplants, according to an expert.
Hüseyin Koçak, a nephrologist at the Akdeniz University Hospital Organ Transplantation Center, said the most anticipated organ in the country as of Nov. 1 was the kidney.
Health Ministry to reorganize transplant activity with EU funds
The Ministry of Health informed that the transplant activity will be reorganized with funds from the European Union, as over 15.6 million euros are to be used for the development of the National Register in the field, the updating of the guides and protocols, and also for the systematization and simplification of the legislation, a press release from the Ministry of Health shows.
People in Mexico who Pass Away will Automatically Become Organ Donors
The Mexican Senate approved a reform of the health system, according to which any deceased adult automatically becomes a potential donor. "The decision on the reform of the general health care law in its organ donation section was adopted by 75 votes in favor, with no one against and one abstaining," the senate said in a Twitter statement.
