Detained lawmakers of the ultra-right Golden Dawn party who face having their immunity to prosecution lifted are to be given permission to attend Parliament on the days that the House is due to discuss their cases, Kathimerini has learned.

Nikos Michaloliakos, leader of the neofascist Golden Dawn party who has been in custody pending trial for setting up a criminal organization since late September, is to remain in Korydallos Prison for another six months, according to a decision by the Athens Council of Appeals Court Judges that was made public on Thursday.

Judges get tough as Baltakos probe gets under way


Former government secretary general Takis Baltakos arrives at a prosecutor's office to give a testimony in Athens yesterday. Baltakos, a top aide to the Greek prime minister, resigned last week after a leaked video showed him suggesting the government had tried to press judges to jail lawmakers from the far-right Golden Dawn party.
