Gov’t races to jump-start stalled Elliniko project; no extension to casino bid
The government is rushing to jump-start the country's largest private investment, to develop the former airport at Elliniko.
Three ministerial decisions involving the park, the coastline development and the casino are expected to be approved by August 27, and a fourth, involving other construction, by August 30.
Creta Farms in imminent danger of collapse
The creditors of financially distressed deli products company Creta Farms appeared willing last month to lend the company 8 million euros, on the condition that brothers Manolis and Konstantinos Domazakis, owners of 80 percent of the company, put up their shares as collateral.
The pair did not do so and the company, which employs 800 people, is in imminent danger of collapse.

Greek PM meets with Eldorado Gold CEO
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the chief executive officer of Canadian miner Eldorado Gold, George Burns, his Athens said on Friday.
According to the announcement, the prime minister reiterated the government's support for the company's investment plans in Greece on the condition that it respects environmental regulations and generates jobs.

Decisions unlocking Elliniko development to be issued within August, minister says
Three joint ministerial decisions that will unblock a stalled multi-million-euro development project on Athens' southern coast will be issued by the end of the month, Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Friday.
Speaking on Slai TV, Georgiadis said the decrees have already been written and are expected to clear the bureaucratic process for their publication within August.

Conservative Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has vowed to take all the necessary steps to lift the obstacles to the stalled multi-million-euro development of the former Athens airport plot at Elliniko on the Greek capital's southern coast.
Map of plots to ease investments
The government announced on Monday the creation of a digital land map, a broad online platform that will make a record of every plot of land, what terms and restrictions apply to its construction, the land usage and whether it is inside a protected area, an archaeological sites, a forest or a seaside spot.

Israeli official slams Voridis’ appointment
Israel has reacted to the appointment of New Democracy deputy Makis Voridis in Greece's new cabinet, with an unnamed diplomatic official telling The Jerusalem Post that the country will not cooperate with the new minister for agriculture and food because of his antisemitic past.
