Astronomers have found three previously unknown moons in our solar system, two additional moons circling Neptune and one around Uranus.

The distant tiny moons were spotted using powerful land-based telescopes in Hawaii and Chile, and announced Friday by the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center.

The latest tally puts Neptune at 16 known moons and Uranus at 28.

Earlier this year, astronomers announced that a tiny world beyond Neptune with a diameter about one-third that of Earth's moon possessed a Saturn-like ring that should not be there. It now turns out that there are two such "impossible" rings.

A football-sized asteroid is approaching the Earth. Scientists claim that this is the largest celestial body that has come so close to our planet since centuries.

"I tracked the orbit of the asteroid. It is not dangerous. We have discovered 150 asteroids over the last 3 years, " said Veselka Radeva, head of the Planetarium at Naval Academy "N. Vaptsarov".

Only with binoculars we can see some of its moons, reported NOVA TV. 

The largest planet in the solar system will be close enough in June to see it without a telescope, according to NASA. With binoculars, we can see some of its moons - Io, Europe, Ganymede and Callisto.

Debris orbiting the Earth at more than 17,000 mph has been snared by a prototype "junk hunting" satellite for the first time.

The experimental RemoveDebris satellite first released the metal object and then fired a five metre wide net to capture it from a distance of six metres.

Our Solar System is a pretty calm place these days, all things considered, but that wasn't always the case. In the period when the planets were still forming, collisions between various large bodies were common, and they ultimately helped shape the system that we see today.

The full moon rises over the Parthenon in Athens Monday. The splendid supermoon - whose technical name is perigee-syzygy of the Earth-moon-sun system insist - was the biggest in the last 68 years, according to scientists, who say that the last time the moon was this close to Earth was in January 1948 and that the next time will not roll around again until November 2034.

The first photos of the super-moon across the world were uploaded on social media and they were impressive. Those who got a glimpse of the rare phenomenon were more than compensated from the amazing images of the earth’s bright satellite over the weekend in Greece.

In a week from today, the moon will be at its closest to earth since January 1948.

“The full moon of November 14 is not only the closest full moon of 2016,” says NASA, “but also the closest full moon to date in the 21st century.”
