New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis resumed his pre-election campaign tour on Tuesday, after testing negative for Covid. Mitsotakis posted a photo on his personal Instagram account with the negative test result, calling it "The good news of the day."

He had tested positive for the virus on Friday and had to cancel several events, including a planned trip to Mount Athos.

SYRIZA has accused New Democracy of "blatantly underestimating the democratic vote of members of the Muslim minority" in Thrace after New Democracy said that two of SYRIZA's MPs elected in the last election in the northeastern region were exponents of "the most extreme Turkish propaganda."

Given that a third election is a distinct possibility in the case that frontrunner New Democracy decreases its electoral percentage and a seven-party Parliament emerges, the polls on June 25 have added significance.

New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis embarked on his second day of campaigning in the southern island of Crete, beginning with a visit to Mylopotamos in Rethymno. There, he urged voters to renew their confidence in the conservative party ahead of the repeat elections on June 25.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis has congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as Turkish president.

In a tweet, the New Democracy leader said he also "extended my best wishes for progress and prosperity to the Turkish people."

New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis has urged the electorate to give his party an even higher percentage in the June 25 election, warning that the possible entry of more political parties to parliament will raise the bar for an absolute majority.

With the decree issued on Monday by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou dissolving Parliament and officially calling for elections on June 25, the country's political parties are back on the campaign trail, holding the thread of continuity from the previous election period, but also with the necessary adjustments and new dilemmas, as imposed by the May 21 election result. 

Following the widely anticipated victory of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his country's presidential election, Athens is continuing its strategy of gradually and steadily reopening the numerous avenues of communication between Greece and Turkey.
