Biologists Have Discovered the Largest "Monster Flower" in Indonesia

Biologists have discovered one of the largest known specimens of the Rafflesia flower in Indonesia's jungles. Locals call the flower "monster flower".

The photo of the giant plant was posted by Instagram's instigators, and the text shows that its diameter is 120 centimeters. It is the largest flower ever formally registered by the West Sumatra Natural Resources Center.

Hen egg production up in November

Turkey's hen egg production increased by 1.2 percent to 1.69 billion units in November 2019 on a yearly basis, Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) revealed on Jan. 13.

The hen egg production increased by 1.3 percent to reach 18.15 billion units during the first 11 months of 2019, TÜİK data showed.

Red algae sign of pollution in Marmara Sea: Expert

The red algae washed up on shores of Istanbul's Anatolian side is a sign of increasing pollution in the Marmara Sea, an expert has said.
"Algae piling up due to decreased oxygen levels with the effect of the dumped waste reveals the alarming pollution in the Marmara Sea," said Meriç Albay, Dean of Istanbul University's Faculty of Aquatic Sciences.

Sick and unattended dogs find comfort in Patiköy

Sick and stray dogs in the central Anatolian province of Kayseri are taking shelter and being rehabilitated in rock-carved caves in 3,000-square-meter Patiköy (Paw Village). Natural caves in Zincidere, which were previously used by people as sheepfold, were turned into Patiköy by Talas Municipality after the villagers left.

717 Dogs from Municipal Shelters in Sofia Have Been Adopted since the Beginning of the Year

From the beginning of 2019 to the end of October, 717 dogs from the shelters of municipal enterprise Ecoravnovesie found a new home, for comparison, for the entire 2018, 600 dogs were adopted. During the same period, 2,260 dogs were neutered, and 286 dogs were treated in the municipal veterinary clinic, 374 backyard dogs were neutered, the Sofia Municipality press office reported.
