In a closed session on Wednesday, Macedonia's Constitutional Court approved the annulling of a provision in the law which had previously barred the president from pardoning alleged election-riggers. 

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic's constitutional and legal adviser, Vladimir Seks, was forced out on Wednesday after it emerged that he sought a pardon for a personal contact.

A draft law on amnesty and pardons that would have helped jailed Romanian politicians was overwhelmingly rejected by the country's Parliament on Tuesday.

The draft law on amnesty and pardons was rejected on Tuesday by the plenum of the Chamber of Deputies.

The deputies have adopted, with 293 votes for, one vote against and one abstention, the report of the Juridical Committee regarding the rejection of the draft law on amnesty and pardons.

National Liberal Party co-chairman Klaus Iohannis stated on Tuesday in a press conference that the amnesty and pardon law must be rejected by Parliament and the Legislative must resume discussions regarding a simplification of procedures to lift the immunity of MPs.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on Monday that the Social Democrat Party (PSD) will vote on Tuesday in Parliament for the definitive rejection of the amnesty and pardon law and for the approval of the requests to lift the immunity of MPs under criminal investigation.

The Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) demands a Parliament assembly on Friday to reject the amnesty and pardon law and to discuss all the approval requests for criminal investigation and preventive arrest in case of several MPs, ACL candidate in the presidential elections Klaus Iohannis pointed out on Thursday.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Friday that if he becomes the president of Romania, he will not pardon any person involved in high-profile corruption cases.
