The Senate and the Chamber of Deputies gathered on Thursday in a joint meeting to debate and vote on the censorship motion tabled against the government headed by Prime Minister Viorica Dancila. Opposition alliance suggests early election pact
The opposition Save Romania Union (USR) PLUS Alliance has suggested to President Klaus Iohannis, the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), the national minority group, Pro Romania and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) a pact on early election, USR national leader Dan Barna said on Monday at a news conference.

Chamber of Deputies, Senate to resume regular session today
The Chamber of Deputies and the Senate are starting today their second ordinary parliamentary session of the year. In the first meeting of each chamber, a new composition of their standing bureaus is elected, including their deputy chairs, secretaries, and treasurers.
Chamber vacates positions held by convicted politician Liviu Dragnea
At a plenary session on Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies passed draft decisions to vacate the positions so far held by Liviu Dragnea, including the Chamber's speakership. The decisions were unanimously adopted. The Judiciary Committee of the Chamber of Deputies passed the two draft resolutions on Tuesday.

The National Standing Bureau of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) decided on Tuesday to endorse Carmen Mihalcescu for acting speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. According to some party sources, Mihalcescu will be endorsed to lead the Chamber of Deputies in an acting capacity until the election of a full-time speaker.
