ND leader Meimarakis returns mandate to President Pavlopoulos

Major opposition party leader of New Democracy (ND) Evangelos Meimarakis returned the mandate, Monday morning, he received from Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos Friday, after failed attempts (something totally predictable) to form a coalition government from the current political groups in the Greek parliament.

Tsipras to Propose Holding Early Elections on 20 September

Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will propose holding early elections on 20 September, the country's state news agency AMNA reported on Thursday, citing government sources.

Tsipras is later expected to make a televised statement and then go to announce his decision to resign and call early elections to President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, AMNA said, citing government sources.
