An Athens court on Tuesday found four defendants guilty in connection to the murder of 4-year-old daughter Ani Borisova in central Athens on Good Friday last year.

Stavros Papastavrou, the former close aide of prime minister Antonis Samaras, has been summoned to appear before a public prosecutor after August 15. He will be asked to testify concerning a case linked to the ‘Lagarde list’ of Greeks with bank accounts at a Swiss branch of HSBC.

The mother of a 4-year-old girl allegedly killed by her biological father claimed on Thursday she had no involvement in the murder of her daughter, whom she had reported missing last month.

The former Mayor of the southwestern Bulgarian municipality of Kocherinovo Kostadin Katin will serve a 4-year prison term.

Katin's sentence was upheld Thursday by the Supreme Court of Cassation.

The Kyustendil District Prosecutor's Office announced that he would serve his jail term at a open-type correctional facility, according to reports of Sega daily.

All three defendants in the trial relating to the April 2013 murder of a young woman in Nea Makri, eastern Attica, were found guilty as charged by an Athens court on Thursday.

Faye Blacha was 23 when she suffered fatal injuries during a beating over a year ago at the hands of her boyfriend, Vangelis Stefanakis, aged 26. He was handed a life sentence.

Vangelis Stefanakis, 25, who is charged with the murder of his 23-year-old girlfriend, Fai Bachla, in Nea Makri, northeast of Athens, in May 2013, on Monday admitted in court to slapping her, but “not repeatedly,” deeming her death an accident.
