Erdoğan praises vision of young people
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on July 12 applauded youngsters of Turkey, saying that their hopes are high for the future of the country thanks to the potential of its young generation.
"Every time we meet with young people, our hopes for the future of this country increase," he said, addressing the Turkey Youth Summit.

Turkish, Palestinian presidents meet in Istanbul
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in Istanbul on July 10, Turkey's Communications Directorate said.
The closed-door meeting was held at the Vahdettin Pavilion. Abbas is on a three-day visit to Turkey at Erdoğan's invitation.

Erdoğan vows to end dependence on foreign defense goods
Turkey's president vowed on July 8 to eliminate the nation's dependence on foreign-made defense products.
"We will continue to increase our investments in the defense industry until we completely free our country from foreign dependence," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said at the opening ceremony of a maintenance hangar for A400M strategic airlifters in the capital Ankara.

Women protest withdrawal from Istanbul Convention
Thousands of people took to the streets of Turkey's largest cities to protest against the country's withdrawal from an international treaty to combat violence against women.
Protests were planned again over the weekend as an appeal against the withdrawal from opposition parties was rejected by the Council of State on June 30.
