Greek, Turkish defense ministers meet in Brussels

The defense ministers of Greece and Turkey met Wednesday on the sidelines of NATO's ministerial summit in Brussels.

The meeting between Evangelos Apostolakis and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar - both former chiefs of their countries' respective armed forces - lasted about 30 minutes.

There was no immediate comment on the meeting.

Turkey's Erdogan Appoints Son-in-law as Finance Minister

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has named his son-in-law as the country's finance minister after being sworn in to another five-year term.

The appointment of Berat Albayrak, who had served as energy minister since 2015, appeared to rattle the markets.

Mr Erdogan, who was re-elected last month, vowed to "propel our country forward" with his sweeping new powers.

Turkey's Erdogan claims victory in presidential election

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan claimed victory in Sunday's presidential election and said his ruling AK Party and its alliance partner had won a parliamentary majority.

However, the main opposition party said it was too early to concede defeat and said it believed Erdogan could still fall short of the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff on July 8.
