Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards

Veteran theater and cinema actress Ayla Algan has died of a brain hemorrhage in Istanbul at the age of 86.

Algan suddenly fell ill while reading a script at home around 7 p.m. on Jan. 4 and was taken to Taksim Acıbadem Hospital, her relatives said.

This year's recipients of the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards were announced on Oct. 29 by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards on Dec. 21 in the fields of history, music, cinema, traditional arts and painting. The recipients of the awards are announced every year on Oct. 29, the day of the anniversary of the Republic of Turkey.
