Bucharest, May 26 /Agerpres / - National chairman of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) Ludovic Orban said on Sunday that the vote is the "strongest weapon" available to every citizen, adding that the result of the poll will be surprising and clearly indicating that "things have fundamentally changed" in Romania.

President Klaus Iohannis stated on Saturday in Iasi that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) representatives "are talking nonsense about the summit and accuse him of representing foreign interests, adding that the current government "has completely different priorities, other interests than the Romanians," which is why Romania is confronted with numerous issues and obstacles.

The Romanian parliament on Tuesday overwhelmingly adopted a law offering special bumper pensions for lawmakers after they retire. The law was adopted with 303 votes in favour and 124 against.

For completing one term, a former senator or deputy will now take away a special pension of 1,550 lei (344 euro) per month, under the new law.

The Bulgarians and Romanians who leave their home country to live in another EU state, prefer the South, shows a survey of the Center for European Studies “Wilfried Martens”. 

It is based on long term observations, which show that Bulgarians and Romanians prefer Italy (37%) and Spain (30%).
