In a concerted effort, Bulgaria and Romania are actively pushing for the construction of a second bridge over the Danube, linking Ruse, Bulgaria, and Giurgiu, Romania. Deputy Minister of Transport Dimitar Nedyalkov shared this development during the regional conference on the project "Europe in the Balkans: Common Future," organized by the Bulgarian news agency BTA.

Seven million vehicles have crossed the Vidin-Calafat bridge in the two directions between Bulgaria and Romania since the facility was commissioned in June 2013, Lyudmil Dimitrov, the new Executive Director of the joint Bulgarian-Romanian company which operates the bridge, said in a BTA interview.

More than 30 people in the district of Rousse, Northern Bulgaria, are monitored because of suspicions for coronavirus. They have returned from the so called risky countries, which have confirmed cases of coronavirus, BNT reported.

The measurements rank the Serbian capital next to Delhi and Beijing.

Despite air problems in the Russe region, data from metering stations show that Belgrade is among the most polluted cities in recent days around the world. The measurements put the Serbian capital near cities such as Beijing, Delhi, Karachi.

Dust above the norm in three Bulgarian cities was registered this morning. The concentration of fine dust particles was slightly above the daily average in Vidin, Plovdiv and Rousse.

The economy is moving at such pace that we cannot manage with the infrastructure, said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in Ruse. He said the government is working on a number of infrastructure projects, including motorways, said the government press office.

The three industrial pig farms in Bulgaria's Rousse district where outbreaks of African Swine Fever were registered are awaiting 1.5 million BGN in compensation for the burial of culled animals and disinfection of the sites, reports BNT.

The amount was specified in a public procurement tender called by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency. The contractors were selected by negotiations.

The traffic on the border checkpoints with Greece, Serbia, Turkey and Romania is intensive. This was reported by DG Border Police.

On the Bulgarian-Serbian border at Kalotina border checkpoint traffic is intensive at the entrance and exit for cars.

Joint Bulgarian-Romanian teams will patrol on all major roads in the region of Rousse in the summer season. The road patrols will operate for the eighth consecutive year, reports BNT

Progress in the implementation of the cross-border cooperation program between Romania and Bulgaria for 2018 was reported at the Eleventh Monitoring Committee meeting, the press office of the MRDPW announced.
