An US federal jury sentenced on Friday Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombers, to death.
The ruling constitutes the first instance in the post-9/11 era in which federal prosecutors win a death penalty in a terrorism case, the CNN reports.

Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will return to court for the start of his sentencing trial Tuesday when prosecutors will demand that the American jury condemn the 21-year-old to death.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Found Guilty of Bombing Boston Marathon
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been found guilty of bombing the Boston Marathon in 2013 that left three people dead and more than 260 injured, the BBC reported.
The 21-year-old former student was found guilty of 17 counts each of which carries a possible death penalty.
A federal jury will now decide whether Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should receive the death sentence or life imprisonment.
