Serbia's Vinca Institute, China's IHEP sign agreements on cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbia's Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences and the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed on Monday two agreements on cooperation on projects aimed at further studies of the Higgs boson - also known as the God particle - to explain in more detail the structure of the universe and its future.

China’s first homegrown passenger jet makes maiden commercial flight

China's first domestically produced passenger jet, the C919, took off on its maiden commercial flight on Sunday, a milestone event in the nation's decades-long effort to compete with Western rivals in the air.    

China Eastern Airlines flight MU9191 rose into the skies above Shanghai Hongqiao Airport just after 10:30 a.m., footage from state broadcaster CCTV showed.    

US Tightens Restrictions on Dual Use Goods and Technologies, China and Russia Blacklisted

The US has placed export restrictions on more than 100 Chinese and Russian companies with alleged military ties.

US exporters will be required to get a licence before they transfer "designated items" to companies on the blacklist. The list includes a large number of Chinese aerospace companies as well as Russia's foreign intelligence service.

China convicts 3 researchers involved in gene-edited babies

Three researchers involved in the births of genetically edited babies have been convicted and sentenced for practicing medicine illegally, Chinese state media said on Dec. 30.

The report by Xinhua news agency said lead researcher He Jiankui was sentenced to three years and fined 3 million yuan ($430,000).
