The Kurdish problem-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has called for an emergency provincial leaders' meeting in Ankara on April 18 in the wake of calls for an early election. 

Imprisoned former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş said on April 11 that all summary of proceedings prepared against him were a "plot" by Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) members, during a trial overseen by the Ankara 19th Criminal Court.

Selahattin Demirtaş, the imprisoned former co-leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), has said the indictments in the case in which he is being tried were prepared by now-imprisoned Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) suspects in the judiciary.

German Ambassador to Turkey Martin Edelman and a the envoys of a number of other countries were not allowed to enter the Sincan courtroom to follow the trial of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş on Feb. 14.

The jailed former co-chair of Turkey’s Kurdish-issue focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, has said the case against him should be dropped, citing political motivation. 

The opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) elected Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli on Feb. 11 as its new co-leaders in the party’s third ordinary convention held in the absence of former HDP co-leader Selahattin Demirtaş and six other lawmakers, who are under arrest.

Pervin Buldan, the deputy parliament speaker and Iğdır lawmaker from the Kurdish-issue focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), has emerged as a likely candidate to replace jailed HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş in the party’s upcoming congress scheduled for Feb. 11.

Imprisoned co-leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş has been acquitted of insulting Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu at a hearing held in Ankara on Jan. 17 under heavy security measures.

Selahattin Demirtaş, the imprisoned co-leader of the Kurdish issue-focused Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), announced on his Twitter account through his lawyers that he did not find various petitions demanding for him to stand as a nominee once again for the party leadership as “right.”

The jailed Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş appeared before the court on Jan. 12 for the first time, 14 months after his detention. He demanded the case be referred to the Constitutional Court. Demirtaş argued that the cases were a violation of the legislative immunity granted to him through his lawmaker status.
