Calin Popescu-Tariceanu resigns from position of Senate President
Senate President Calin Popescu-Tariceanu announced on Monday, in plenary session, his resignation from office, which he held for 5 years. "I did not cling to this position. (...) I will continue to involve myself politically," said Tariceanu, in the Senate's plenary session. "Today is my last day as Senate President of Romania.
Thousands Protest in Poland Against Court Reorganizations
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Warsaw and towns across Poland on Thursday night to protest the ruling party's drive to reorganize all levels of the judiciary, including contentious legislation that gives control of the nation's Supreme Court to the president instead of to judges, according to ABC News.
US Senate Set to Approve Montenegro's NATO Bid
The full US Senate is set to start a day-and-a-half debate on Tuesday on the treaty to allow Montenegro's membership in NATO.
This follows a 97-2 procedural ballot in the Senate on Monday in favour of allowing the final vote this week on the ratification of Montenegro's NATO Accession Protocol.

Thousands Protest in Poland over Govt's Constitutional Court Plans
Polish citizens took to the streets of more than 20 cities on Sunday to demonstrate against moves by the recently elected government to reform the country's top court.
Alongside Warsaw, protests were held in Pozna?, Gda?sk, Wroc?aw, Lublin, Kraków, Katowice and Tarnów, and many other places, Radio Poland reports.
