Jailbreaker and alleged accomplices arrested for armed robbery in northern Greece
Four people were arrested on Thursday, among which a man who had escaped from a prison in the Greek town of Serres in central Macedonia in January this year, after allegedly committing an armed robbery in another town, according to state-run news agency ANA-MPA.
Farmers scale up action
Farmers rode their tractors through the streets of Larissa in central Greece Friday as they continued to press the leftist government for a reduction of production costs and a minimum guaranteed price for certain agricultural products. Protesters scaled up their action by shutting down traffic on the Thessaloniki-Serres highway.

Greek Farmers Plan to Block Kulata - Promahon Border Crossing on Jan 24
The consulate of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki warned that long queues of waiting vehicles may be formed at the border with Greece on 24th of January because of a new protest of farmers in Serres, repors BNT.
Greek famers plan to block traffic in the Kulata-Promahon area after 14:00.
Probe opened into worker's death in Serres
Police on Wednesday were investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a 43-year-old construction worker at a children's camp in Nea Kerdylia, near Serres, northern Greece.
The man was crushed by a metal overhang attached to an exterior wall which collapsed during construction work at the site.

Police to crack down on parking offenders
The Traffic Police are to start regular crackdowns on motorists who park illegally in designated parking spots as well as on access ramps, it was announced on Tuesday.
An operation carried out by Traffic Police around the country from January 14 to 20 led to 736 violations being recorded for illegal parking on disabled ramps and in designated parking spaces.

Pupils may soon have option of learning Pontic Greek
Education authorities in the northern town of Serres on Monday announced an initiative to create a network of between 50 and 100 schools where students will have the option of learning the Pontic Greek dialect.

A gang that had robbed a string of ATMs in northern Greece was unraveled on Wednesday in Kilkis by police who arrested three foreign nationals - a 40-year-old man and two women aged 30 and 25.

Drug busts across Greece
Authorities in northern Greece has unraveled a large drug distributing gang and arrested 24 people, including three minors and four foreign nationals.
The arrests took place during raids in Thessaloniki and Serres and the investigation revealed that the gang had been active since since November, 2017.

Macedonian groups sue FM, accuse him of high treason
