Oldest American, fastest woman on Everest return safely

A retired attorney from Chicago who became the oldest American to scale Mount Everest, and a Hong Kong teacher who is now the fastest female climber of the world's highest peak, on May 30 returned safely from the mountain where climbing teams have struggled with bad weather and a coronavirus outbreak.

China Stops Expeditions to Everest due to Transmission of the Coronavirus from Nepal

China has canceled expeditions to climb Mount Everest on its Chinese side due to concerns that KOVID-19 will not be imported from neighboring Nepal, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

The closure of the route was confirmed last night by the Chinese General Sports Administration, Xinhua news agency reported.

Turks trapped on Everest rescued

Turkey rescued two of its citizens stranded on Mount Everest in the Himalayas, the country's foreign minister said on March 16.

"We reached our citizens: Muhammed Emin Özyazıcı and Muratcan Kaya who were stuck on Everest by helicopter," Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in a tweet.
