Sierra Nevada Corp., owned by two Turkish entrepreneurs, will conduct a minimum of six cargo delivery missions to and from the International Space Station (ISS) under a contract it won from NASA, according to a statement released on Jan. 14. The missions will use SNC's Dream Chaser Cargo System.

The Turkish military's headquarters is preparing to place its first orders for indigenous Turkish regional jets that are currently under construction, defense procurement officials have said.
 

The TRJet program to build Turkey?s first indigenous regional jet faces problems as the U.S.-based Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC), a partner in the jet program, has been asked to produce at least 70 percent of the jet?s parts in Turkey by the Undersecretariat for the Defense Industry (SSM), according to company representatives, noting that a final agreement has been not inked yet. 

The TRJet program that plans to build Turkey's first indigenous regional jet will eventually create up to 4,000 qualified, high value jobs in aviation industry.

Turkey proudly announced plans in June to design, develop and produce an indigenous Turkish regional jet, a first time in the country?s history, but aviation experts and defense industry are now questioning the first Turkish jet?s ?Turkishness.?

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), a United States-based aerospace and aviation systems company, announced the formation of its newest wholly-owned subsidiary, TRJet Havac?l?k Teknolojileri (TRJet) to produce Turkey?s first regional jet in a written statement made June 16. 

The Turkish government has introduced a national airplane construction project entitled "A Turk in the sky," with jets completely designed and built by Turkish engineers and flying as soon as 2019.
