American cinema and TV actress Whoopi Goldberg wore a bracelet and ring combination and watch created by Turkish jewelry designer Sevan B?çakç? at the 88th Oscar ceremony on Feb. 28.
The octopus-shaped ring and bracelet by Istanbul-based designer B?çakç? marked the 25th anniversary of Goldberg's "Best Supporting Actress" Oscar.
Turkish agency provides food aid to Nigerian refugees
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (T?KA) has provided food to 168 refugee families fleeing Boko Haram violence in northern Nigeria, the agency was quoted by the state-run Anadolu Agency as saying on Feb. 29.
T?KA is helping refugees in the Durumi camp outside the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
11 detained over attack on pro-gov't newspaper offices in Istanbul
Istanbul's anti-terror police have detained 11 suspects in connection with the Feb. 11 attacks on the offices of dailies Yeni ?afak and Yeni Akit. Reports indicate that the suspects are linked to an offshoot of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) called the United Freedom Forces (BÖG).
Curfew in Cizre to be lifted on March 2
A curfew which was declared on Dec. 14, 2015, in the Cizre district of the southeastern province of ??rnak will be lifted on the morning of March 2, the ??rnak Governor's Office has announced.
The governor's office said in a statement that the curfew would be lifted for daylight hours on March 2 but would continue to be imposed at nights between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Indie music festival in Istanbul
The fourth edition of indie music festival IndieCity will be held at Salon IKSV in Istanbul on March 5.
The one-day festival, which was organized for the first time in 2012, aims to unite music enthusiasts and professionals, the festival's organizers said in a statement.

Ten children stabbed outside school gate in southern China
Police in the southern Chinese city of Haikou said that a knife-wielding man has slashed 10 children outside a primary school before killing himself.
Media reports said that none of the children suffered life-threatening injuries, but that two were seriously hurt in the attack that took place on Feb. 29.
Turkish intercity ferry searched over bomb hoax
An intercity ferry carrying passengers from Istanbul to the northwestern province of Bursa was searched late Feb. 28 due to a bomb hoax, Do?an News Agency has reported. Two suspects were detained over the incident.
