The Government Allocates Further BGN 80 Million for Long-term Unemployed and Unqualified Citizens

Additional BGN 80 million are provided by the government to tackle unemployment in Bulgaria. Money will be directed to long-term unemployed and unskilled people. This is what Deputy Social Minister Zornitsa Rusinova told in front of the Bulgarian National Television.

Man sought for cashing dead wife's checks for four years

Police in Thessaloniki on Tuesday were seeking a 71-year-old man who had allegedly been pocketing the disability benefit of his dead wife for the past four years.

According to police sources, the man failed to report the death of his wife, who was a paraplegic, in 2014 so that he could continue cashing her benefit checks.

Gov't in search of funds for 'socially minded agenda'

In its much touted effort to pursue what it describes as a more socially minded agenda, the government is mulling a plan to grant higher benefits for families with one or two children, but its implementation will depend on the cost-saving margin of other sectors.

These costs will be estimated in the ongoing budget spending review.

Three in four recent graduates work for less than 800 euros a month

Almost three in every four (73 percent) people who graduated after 2011 in Greece collect no more than 800 euros per month, while one in six gets less than 400 euros per month, if they have a job, according to the findings of a survey the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) presented on Wednesday.

The amount of the average social security income for Bulgaria in February 2017 was BGN 791.26, the National Social Security Institute (NSI) announced.

The average social security income for the country for the period March 1, 2016 - February 28, 2017 was BGN 777.36.
