Two AKP members ask mining companies to send miners to rally in disaster-struck Soma: MHP deputy

Two members of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) from Turkey's mining disaster-struck Aegean province of Manisa have told mine owners, who work with a royalty system, to bring miners to the AKP election rally in Manisa on May 24, according to a Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) deputy.

The district of Soma will commemorate the first anniversary of Turkey's deadliest mining accident, in which 301 miners were killed, in a modest way on May 13. 

The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality together with the district governorship and the Maden-?? Union will organize separate commemoration events in the Aegean district of Soma. 

Soma mine disaster suspects point finger at dead engineer

Suspects in the case of Turkey's worst ever mine disaster in the Aegean town of Soma, which claimed the lives of 301 miners in May 2014, have pointed the finger at one engineer who died in the accident, as the trial continues under tight security measures due to the furious relatives of victims.
