Deadly Evros wildfire enters 13th day as firefighters struggle to contain it

The European Union's largest wildfire since the bloc started keeping records continued to rage for the 13th straight day in northeastern Greece on Thursday burning a pristine forest in the Dadia National Park.

The blaze has already burned around 81,000 hectares (200,000 acres) of land, according to the European Union's Copernicus Emergency Management Service. 

Firefighters battle 111 wildfires across the country

Firefighters are currently battling 111 wildfires across the country after 59 new blazes broke out in the last 24 hours.

Many of the new fires were flare-ups in Parnitha, Evros and in other fire fronts, the fire service said.

In Parnitha, a strong firefighting contingent is battling flare-ups mainly in the southwestern part, near the Fyli fortress.

Firefighters discover another dead body amid raging wildfires

Three days following the discovery of 18 deceased individuals, presumed to be migrants or refugees, in the Dadia forest situated in the northeastern Evros region, firefighters discovered the charred remains of another man, also suspected to be an asylum seeker, on Thursday, it was announced Friday.

Set up by the Corfu Museum of Asian Art and the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) (piop.gr), under the aegis of the Japanese Embassy in Greece, the exhibition offers displays of select antiquities from the museum's collections.
