The town of Soufli, near Greece's border with Turkey in the region of Evros, was one of Greece's major silk-producing centers up until the early 20th century. Today it is home to the Silk Museum, where you can find out about the history of the pre-industrial procedure of silk farming and processing.

Greek border guards rescue 64 refugees and migrants
The Greek border patrol guard rescued 64 irregular migrants and refugees that were abandoned near the village of Soufli at a river on the north-western borders with Turkey, Tuesday. The migrants and refugees, which included children, were deserted in a boat by the human traffickers in the middle of a river for unknown reasons.
Greek Defence Minister P. Kammenos visits flooded Evros
Defence Minister Panos Kammenos and the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) Chief General Mikhail Kostarakos are visiting flood-stricken areas along the course of the Evros River. The itinerary includes visits to Lagyna, Soufli and Poros. The latest reports show that the situation appears to be stabilizing in the area.
European rights court condemns Greece over treatment of asylum seeker, migrant
The European Court of Human Rights condemned Greece on Thursday for the treatment of an asylum seeker and an irregular migrant who arrived in the country as a minor.
Greece was ordered to pay 6,500 euros in damages to an Iranian national who arrived in Greece in November 2010.
