Experts at the Civil Protection Ministry have issued a series of guidelines for dealing with the heatwave that is expected to hit Greece on Wednesday and linger for at least a week, with temperatures topping 40 degrees Celsius.

Citizens of the Netherlands will receive free sun protection this summer as authorities try to tackle record levels of skin cancer in the country.

Sunscreen dispensers will be available this summer in schools and universities, at festivals, in parks, sports venues and open public spaces across the country, the government has announced.

Ljubljana – The Nutrition Institute, a non-profit research centre, has carried out a study which showed that Slovenians significantly lack vitamin D. This is after a Nutrihealth national study showed last year that around 80% of adults in Slovenia do not get enough vitamin D in autumn and winter months.

"I would be more surprised if I got sick at the beginning. When I got sick, we learned a lot. If you respect the disease and do everything in the protocol, you have a good chance," Stevanovic said, adding that no one is immune to this disease.
Professor Dr Danica Grujicic agreed with her colleague, stating that she respected the disease when she was infected in August.

The use of artificial tanning beds by minors under 18 years of age should be banned by the end of this year, the Ministry of Health has announced.

A similar measure is in place in Australia and Brazil, while World Health Organization has classified these devices as a top-ranked source of cancerogens.

A local singer well-known for her blonde “bombshell” appearance throughout the late 1990s and next decade snatched a smart phone from a suspect that was allegedly videotaping her as she was nude in a tanning booth.

According to reports, the singer, known locally as Sabrina, told police that she heard the door to her tanning booth crack open, with a smart phone then barely appearing.
