The popular island of Santorini is expecting another bumper tourism year by extending the season across more months, say Mayor Anastasios-Nikolaos Zorzos and local hotelier association President Manolis Karamolegos.

Two Greek beaches are included in the winners of the Best Beach Awards 2015, organized by the Travel Channel, the world's leading travel media brand.

More specifically, Red Beach in Santorini, Greece was named the Best Unusual Beach while VICE (also known as Nissakia Surf Club) in Artemida, Greece was named the Best Beach Bar.

The Greek islands of Santorini (pictured) and Crete have made it into the list of the world’s top 25 tourism destinations with the best hotels, compiled by Agoda.com.

Santorini secured seventh place and Crete 12th in the global rankings of the leading online travel agency in Asia.
