Ten new tollgates in the works

The government has announced the construction of 10 new toll stations on the Egnatia Highway that crosses northern Greece.

According to Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis, four of the stations should be in operation by the end of August while the remaining six will come into use by the November 1.

New, 25-lane highway toll station opens near Belgrade

Serbian Prime Minister and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday attended the opening of a new, 25-lane highway toll station at Vrcin, near Belgrade.

With a throughput up to 45 percent higher than at the Bubanj Potok station, which it will replace, the new station will make it possible for 5,600 vehicles to pass through each hour, Tanjug has reported.

Egnatia Road: Work stoppage in protest of 10 new toll booths

Employees of Egnatia Odos today expressed their opposition to the construction of 10 new toll booths on the motorway of the same name, as well as its planned concession.

The work stoppage took place during the scheduled construction tender of four new toll booths in the areas of Pamvotida, Mesti, Ieropigy and Evzonoi as well as their vertical axes.
