Bridge, highway tolls rake in $162 million in Turkey
Some 570.1 million Turkish Liras (some $162 million) was earned in tolls collected from two bridges over Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait and toll roads across Turkey in the first five months of 2017, the Highways Directorate stated on June 28.
Ten new tollgates in the works
The government has announced the construction of 10 new toll stations on the Egnatia Highway that crosses northern Greece.
According to Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis, four of the stations should be in operation by the end of August while the remaining six will come into use by the November 1.

New, 25-lane highway toll station opens near Belgrade
Serbian Prime Minister and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday attended the opening of a new, 25-lane highway toll station at Vrcin, near Belgrade.
With a throughput up to 45 percent higher than at the Bubanj Potok station, which it will replace, the new station will make it possible for 5,600 vehicles to pass through each hour, Tanjug has reported.
Section of Corinth-Patra highway to remain closed until January 26
The section of the Corinth-Patra highway in the northern Peloponnese from Selianitika in Aigileia to the Rio interchange will be closed to traffic until Thursday, January 26.
Background to the price hikes on bridges
The government increased the costs of bridge tolls over Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait by 48 percent, while the costs of crossing the Osmangazi Bridge over the İzmit Bay were decreased by 26 percent.

Turkey earns over $318 mln in bridge, highway tolls
Turkey earned over 1.11 billion Turkish Liras ($318.2 million) from tolls collected on two bridges over Istanbul's Bosphorus and linking roads in the first 11 months of 2016, the country's highway directorate said Dec. 27.

Egnatia Road: Work stoppage in protest of 10 new toll booths
Employees of Egnatia Odos today expressed their opposition to the construction of 10 new toll booths on the motorway of the same name, as well as its planned concession.
The work stoppage took place during the scheduled construction tender of four new toll booths in the areas of Pamvotida, Mesti, Ieropigy and Evzonoi as well as their vertical axes.
Road, bridge tolls in Turkey reap $295.5 million throughout September
Turkey earned 905.2 million Turkish Liras ($295.5 million) from tolls, including those on bridges over the Istanbul Strait, in the first nine months of 2016, according to the country's highway department.
Toll Tax System in Bulgaria To Yield Proceeds of BGN 1.5 B
Proceeds of BGN 1.5 B are expected from the introduction of the toll tax system in Bulgaria, announced the Director of the Road Infrastructure Agency Lazar Lazarov.
Lazarov specified that the funds will be used mainly for the construction and maintenance of roads.
