Turkey's tourism revenue decreased by 16.5 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period of 2015 due to a significant decrease in the number of Russian tourists visiting the country and rising security concerns after a number of suicide attacks. 

Turkey must stimulate local tourism as local tourists make up just one-tenth of the country's tourists in a bid to recover recent losses in the sector, according to a leading sector representative. 

According to a poll on travel site ‘TravelZoo’, Greece is the 5th preferred holiday destination for British nationals. The survey revealed that safety is the tip priority for the British tourists, a factor explaining why they choose domestic ‘stay-cations’ destinations for their holidays.

The perception of Greece as a tourism destination is deteriorating in the British, German and American markets as a result of the refugee and migration crisis, an Internet survey has found.

Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said that 30 % growth in the number of planned charter flights to the Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas is expected this summer compared to last year.

Commenting the forthcoming summer season on private bTV station on Wednesday, Angelkova stated that the expectations are for a successful and positive season.
