Mountain huts see record footfall, over half foreign visitors
Slovenian mountain huts are looking back at a record season, having reported 120,000 nights spent by hikers by the end of September 2022, which the Alpine Association of Slovenia says is slightly above the record figures posted in 2019.
Mountain huts face water shortages due to drought
Kredarica – Due to a lack of rainfall mountain huts in Slovenia are experiencing water scarcity, including the highest hut Kredarica that sits below Mt Triglav, Slovenia’s tallest peak. Currently, the hut only has water supplies for about ten days, and there has been a cap on bookings for some time.

Lightening injures 18 hikers in Alps
Ljubljana – A lightning strike in the area of Mt Triglav in the Julian Alps has injured 18 mountaineers, two of them seriously, while the rescue effort was hampered by fog, the country’s Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief said on Friday.
