Assailants Open Fire on US Consulate in Istanbul

Turkish police have detained an individual linked to a Monday attack by two assailants against the US consular service in Istanbul, news websites say.

Apart from one of the assailants, a woman, no-one else has been injured in the attack on Monday morning.

US officials have said on Twitter they are "working with Turkish authorities to investigate".

Two attackers opened fire on the U.S. consulate building in Istanbul on August 10 and fled when police shot back, broadcaster CNNTürk  said. 

Do?an News Agency reported those involved in the attack on the building in Istanbul's Sar?yer district included one man and one woman. The woman was apprehended at a house she took refuge in. 

CNNTürk  said there were no casualties.

Three police officers, Ahmet Ümit Sercan, Muhammet Onur Demir and Salih Hüseyin Parça, died in multiple armed offensives by outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in Turkey's southeast over the weekend, the latest in a series of violent attacks against security forces across the country which have claimed 26 lives over the past month.
