No Bomb Found on Turkish Airlines Flight Diverted to Shannon

No explosives have been found on board the Turkish Airlines plane that was diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland after a security threat on Sunday.

Flight TK-34  from Houston, Texas, to Istanbul was diverted after a piece of paper with "bomb" written on it was discovered in the toilet, the BBC reported citing a spokesman for Turkey's flag carrier.

More than 150 Istanbul flights canceled due to snow

More than 150 flights have been canceled by Turkish airline companies amid expectations of snowfall in Istanbul. 

In a statement on its official website, Turkey's flagship carrier, Turkish Airlines, announced that 131 flights scheduled from Istanbul's Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen airports on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23 had been canceled amid expectations of heavy snowfall. 

Scores of domestic, international flights canceled amid snow storm in Istanbul

Scores of domestic and international flights have been canceled by Turkish airline companies amid heavy snow in Istanbul, which began falling late Jan. 17.

Turkish Airlines, the country's national flag-carrier, announced it canceled some 151 scheduled flights due to "expected meteorological incidents and heavy snowfall" in Istanbul's Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen airports. 

Dismantled plane to be turned into restaurant in western town

A dismantled plane, which has reached its flight limits, will be used as a restaurant in the town of Edremit, located in the western province of Bal?kkesir. 

The plane's transformation into a restaurant began when a private aviation company bought the Airbus A340 plane from Turkish Airlines (THY). The plane was first dismantled into eight parts in Istanbul's Atatürk Airport.

Five injured in metrobus accident in Istanbul

Five passengers were injured when two metrobuses collided near Istanbul's Merter neighborhood, while the accident blocked the city's metrobus route in the Avc?lar direction. 

On the morning of Jan. 18 a metrobus hit another from behind amid a heavy snow storm in Istanbul. 

Five passengers were injured in the accident and transferred to a nearby hospital. 

Flights, ferries canceled in Istanbul due to snow storm

Heavy snowfall has severely affected transportation in Istanbul as flights and ferries were canceled and schools were closed by a snow storm that is expected to continue until late Jan. 19. 

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Jan. 18 that 137 flights scheduled from Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport had been canceled due to the adverse weather conditions.

Istanbul's Atatürk Airport has overtaken Frankfurt Airport to enter the top three busiest airports in Europe, Bloomberg has reported, based on 2015 passenger numbers. 

The shift came as Turkish Airlines continued its rapid expansion and strikes at Deutsche Lufthansa AG hurt the German hub.
