Over 1,000 coronavirus patients in Turkey are hoping to benefit from possibly life-saving immune plasma treatment from the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay), the group's head said on April 27. 

In a video press conference, Dr. Kerem Kınık said 567 people across Turkey have donated immune plasma, while 1,066 people are hoping for the plasma treatment.

Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) has sent aid to Georgia to support the country's fight with COVID-19 as part of the collaboration with the aid agency's Georgian chapter.

The aid included personal protective equipment (PPE) and isolation tents.

Patients in Turkey receiving convalescent plasma therapy have been responding positively to COVID-19 treatment, according to a top Red Crescent official. 

"We are receiving positive signals from the doctors who are taking care of seriously ill people [undergoing immune plasma therapy], Dr. Kerem Kınık, head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society told Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) has set the goal of helping 25 million people in 2020, the charity's head said on Dec. 26. 

This year the charity helped 22.3 million people worldwide, Kerem Kınık said at their annual meeting in Istanbul.

The Turkish Red Crescent has arrived in Syria's recently liberated district of Tal Abyad to deliver humanitarian aid to needy people, the head of the aid agency said on Oct. 15.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) hopes to increase the number of female employees working for its parent group, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the head of the Turkish aid agency said on Aug. 19.

Turkish Red Crescent on June 28 lauded the aid efforts of the United Nations in the Idlib region, the northwest of civil war-torn Syria.

Turkish Red Crescent ("Kızılay" in Turkish) lent a helping hand to 14.7 million needy people during the holy month of Ramadan.       

The head of the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) expressed grave concern May 31 over the strong likelihood that ongoing violence in Syria's Idlib province will cause more civilian casualties and further displacement.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) sent 15 tons of aid to Mozambique, the agency official told Anadolu Agency on March 22.
