Bulgaria's Workforce Increased Slightly in 2014 - NSI

The latest data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which was released on Monday, shows that Bulgaria's workforce registered a slight increase in 2014.

According to the data, the number of economically active persons, aged between 15 and 64, amounted to 3 308 700, which represents 69 % of the population in the same age category.

Three out of four jobless Greeks are at least 12 months without work

The unemployment rate started climbing again in the last quarter of 2014, putting an end to a period of moderate decline. The jobless reached 26.1 percent of the work force in October-December 2014 due to the political and economic uncertainty generated by the prospect of the elections and the change in government, Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) figures showed on Thursday.

Unemployment tops Turks' problems list

Almost 60 percent of the Turkish people see unemployment as the country's biggest problem, according to a recent survey.

While 82 percent of Turks believe there is corruption in the country, Turkey's biggest problem is unemployment, according to a recent report conducted by the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV).

Eurostat: More than 1 in 2 young people unemployed in Greece

The euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was at 11.2% in January 2015, down from 11.3% in December 2014 and from 11.8% in January 2014. This is the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since April 2012. The EU28 unemployment rate was 9.8% in January 2015, down from 9.9% in December 2014 and from 10.6% in January 2014.
