Victim blaming

Several hundred rights activists protested in Tirana on Thursday against sexual violence, after the country was shocked this week when police said they had arrested several teenagers and a 65-year-old school guard for abusing a 15-year-old girl for about two years.

A teen magazine in Singapore has come under harsh criticism by the public for publishing an advice column telling a young woman who wrote in to say that she’d been raped by a male acquaintance to be grateful her perpetrator had worn a condom.

The legal definitions of rape in different US states vary. But the interpretation, and subsequent ruling on a case in Oklahoma given to forced oral sex by a court is off the charts. According to the decision by the state’s criminal appeals court it does not constitute rape if victim has oral sex with the offender while the prior is completely unconscious due to alcohol intoxication!
