Israel denounced as unhelpful on Nov. 19 a vote by the Spanish parliament, hours after a deadly Jerusalem synagogue attack, calling on Madrid to recognise a Palestinian state.
      
In a highly symbolic move, Spanish MPs adopted almost unanimously a motion urging the conservative government to recognise Palestine in coordination with any similar move by the European Union. 

Israel has advanced the planning of more than 1,000 new Jewish settler homes in annexed east Jerusalem, an official said Oct. 27, sparking a Palestinian warning of an "explosion" of violence.

President Reuven Rivlin acknowledged Oct. 26 past and present wrongdoings to Israel's Arabs, while calling for calm in the wake of growing unrest in east Jerusalem and the West Bank.
